I’ve used the GetUpside app and found it is no-nonsense and works well. It is not a scam, it is legitimate. Start saving money today!
In my testing, I have found it works well for daily use. I have personally tested this with gas stations in my area for about a year, saved up about $30.00 in cash back, and successfully withdrawn it.
It is not a scam, it is legitimate, and I recommend using it where you can. (Also, if you’re interested I’ve included my referral information below, in the “Final Thoughts” section. Using the referral link benefits me too!)
OVERVIEW OF GETUPSIDE APP – LEGIT AND NOT A SCAM
Table of Contents
GetUpside scans the area for participating locations and then shows you how much of a discount they are offering. I have found this feature is fairly easy to use, and relatively easy to find participating gas stations (there are also grocery and food-related discounts, but not in my area). I also like that I do not have to sign-up for a new credit card to get this offer, which seems to be the case for a lot of other savings-on-gas offers.
Speed and Performance of GetUpside
As a constructive note, the app can be slow at times and a little clunky when searching for stations, so make sure you’re using a wifi connection or a reliable cellphone connection. This hasn’t been a significant challenge for me, but I wanted to make mention of it.
Also, to avoid frustration, one fix for me was to make sure features like location services were enabled for the app so it could function optimally (I elected to for the app to use my location while in use). Aside from that, I have not encountered recurring issues with the app, nor with the redemption services.
Participating Locations within the GetUpside app
Fortunately, I have found several locations where I can fill up my tank. It is worth noting that not every gas station participates in the program (at least at the time of this post). That said, when I first started, I downloaded the app and quickly scanned the area to see what options populated and I easily found several. As I mentioned earlier, there are some features I haven’t used, such as the grocery component which is simply because there are no options in my area.
The Redemption and Cash back Process
I have also outlined a few key steps in the next section to ensure that your receipt posts correctly within the app. Once I adhered to the steps, the redemption process was straightforward and easy to use. When I had accumulated my money, I transferred it via PayPal and was able to get the money without any hassle. All said the process worked from start-to-finish as advertised. This is not a scam; it is a legit way to make a few extra bucks!
PRACTICAL USE OF GETUPSIDE
GetUpside is easy to use. I’ve made a few bucks, and my wife and I are always glad for that. A key point to remember is the logistics associated each time you fill-up. Here are a few steps that you should be careful to follow so that your redemptions are smooth and hassle-free. While I haven’t had to use it yet myself, GetUpside also has a help feature which can be used to troubleshoot any lingering issues.
Accumulate your Cash Back with these 7 Steps
- Log in to the app, and select your location, and “claim” it before you start pumping gas.
- Pump your gas (at the time of this post, the offer applies up to 50 gallons)
- Use a credit or debit card to pay
- Print the receipt from the pump, or go inside and get one. You must have one!
- Scan-in the receipt with the app
- Review the scan and ensure the proper fields are completed after the scan*
- Submit, and then check later for your cashback
*This is especially important. The app gives you the option to verify the potentially missing fields as the interface doesn’t always register from the scan. For example, I had to confirm the date, time, and address a few times. This was quick and painless, and I’m glad the app allows me to do that at the onset of the process.
FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE GETUPSIDE APP
I have been impressed with how easy the app is to use, and how much my cash back balance has grown. Just to give you an idea of where I was able to apply the app, I typically drive 45minutes to 1hour each way to work, and I drive a simple 4 cylinder sedan. We also own an SUV, my wife’s primary vehicle, and the family car, which is filled up a little less-often (my wife works from home). The two combined resulted in about $30 cash back since we started – not too bad for free!
